Aurdonius Ažubalis (Minister of Foreign Affairs)

Born on 17 January 1958 in Vilnius
1976 graduated from Vilnius Antanas Vienuolis secondary school
1976–1977 studied journalism at Vilnius State University, Faculty of History, but was expelled from the university for relations with Lithuanian Helsinki Group members
1977–1979 served in the Soviet Army
1982 was permitted to continue journalism studies at Vilnius State University
1989 received a degree in journalism
1990 studied politics and economics at World Press Institute, Macalester College, St. Paul, Minnesota, USA
1979–1988 worked at the Lithuanian State Committee on Publishing Houses, Polygraph Enterprises and Book Trade, Lithuanian Scientific Methodological Culture Centre, Lithuanian State Committee for Television and Radio Broadcasting, Lithuanian State Cinema Rent Bureau
1989–1990 Reporter of the Atgimimas, a Lithuanian Reform Movement Sąjūdis weekly newspaper
1990–1992 Spokesman for the Chairman of the Supreme Council (Reconstituent Seimas)
1991–1993 Head of the Information and Analysis Centre of the Office of the Supreme Council (Reconstituent Seimas)
1993–1996 Founder and head of the first public relations consultancy in Lithuania
1996–2000 Member of the 7th Seimas. Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs.
2001–2004 Director General of the Translation and Information Centre under the Chancellery of the Government of the Republic of Lithuania
2004–2008 Member of the 9th Seimas, Member of the Committee on Foreign Affairs
From 17 November 2008 Member of the 10th Seimas, Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs
29 January 2010 By Presidential Decree, appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Fifteenth Government
