- Andrius Kubilius: Commission strongly supports VNPP as an essential link in Lithuania’s energy independence strategy
- 2012/06/12
While speaking on the positive opinion of the European Commission regarding the construction of the new Visaginas nuclear power plant, Prime Minister Andrius Kubilius said:
“The European Commission’s conclusions clearly demonstrate the VNPP significance for Lithuania’s energy security and its integration into the European power grid. The Commission strongly supports the VNPP project as an essential link to Lithuania’s energy independence. I am delighted that the Commission, whose support we clearly saw earlier as well (when Lithuania took essential decisions on the ownership unbundling in the gas sector, while implementing the EU’s Third Energy Package), now too, is very clearly in favour of Lithuania’s energy independence strategy”.
