The Government announces a three-day mourning period for President A.M. Brazauskas

Earlier today, the extraordinary meeting of the Government has announced a three-day official mourning period for the former President of Lithuania, signatory of the Act of March 11 and the former Prime Minister Algirdas Mykolas Brazauskas.

The Government has decided that Lithuania would begin the mourning at 7 a.m. on Tuesday, June 29, and will end it at 10 p.m. on Thursday, July 1.

Following the announcement of the mourning, the national flags, flown at half-mast, shall be pinned with black ribbons. Observance of tranquillity is requested.
Prime Minister Andrius Kubilius: Lithuania is capable to win in global competition

Prime Minister Andrius Kubilius and the official government delegation took part in the Lithuanian World Economic Forum in London, where he gave a speech at the famous London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE).
The speech on Lithuania’s prospects for the next twenty years was listened to by the overflowing audience. A. Kubilius introduced the essence of the vision 2030, and noted the strategic aim to develop the widest possible dialogue with the Lithuanian society, and the Lithuanian diasporas abroad, as well as Lithuania’s friends and neighbours with a view to crystallizing the idea of Lithuania we would all like to live in.
The World Lithuanian Economic Forum: there is considerable talent and
potential in Lithuania

Prime Minister Andrius Kubilius has opened the World Lithuanian Economic Forum Conference “High tech innovation & investment: local to global” in London. In his opening address, the Lithuanian Prime Minister has introduced innovation potential in the innovative Lithuania. Speakers of the forum – economy experts and entrepreneurs having investment experience in Lithuania – stressed two pints: there is considerable talent and potential in Lithuania, ad the current Government has been pursuing an attractive and consistent investment policy focusing on high-tech and IT sectors.
UK Prime Minister David Cameron welcomes the World Lithuanian Economic Forum

In his letter to Lithuanian Prime Minister Andrius Kubilius, David Cameron, UK Prime Minister, expressed his congratulations regarding the World Lithuanian Economic Forum:

I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate you on the ambitious economic reform and recovery program that your Government is following, and to express the hope that our two countries will continue to work successfully together, including in the EU, on the economic challenges we face and across the range of our shared interests. Lithuanian and Swedish Prime Ministers focus on austerity policies in their meeting

Continuing his visit in pursuit for economic diplomacy and investment, Prime Minister Andrius Kubilius, has had a meeting with Swedish Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt in Stockholm. The counterparts have exchanged views about the developments in the euro zone, particularly in the Southern states of the EU.
